CONSTRUCT
By Cannon Fodder* Collective
Caroline Doolin, Nora Duggan, Gerard Erraught, Fiona Marron, Kurt Oppermann and SerenaTeehan.
6th – 24th May 2011
Each artist sees their affiliation to the collective as a support, as well as a way to extend their output beyond their own personal practice. Construct #1 is the first in a series of projects which intends to explore the interactions between each member’s individual practise.
The collective shall author an exhibition which can be viewed as one work, or many, inspired and contained by Monster Truck’s specific architecture.
For this exhibition the term ‘construct’ is being used as a departure point. Often highly subjective, a ‘construct’, put simply, is an idea or theory used to describe something which, although it exists and is held to be true, might not always be manifested physically.
With Construct #1 Cannon Fodder* endeavour to accentuate the existing nature of the Temple Bar gallery – its concrete, beams, glass, stairs. The works will inhabit windows, recede into corners, draw light from outside in, fill the space from floor to ceiling, etc. The work will impose physically on the space of the building and/or will draw attention to certain overlooked aspects within: to alter, produce, construct and emphasise.
With no set of fixed ideas, Cannon Fodder projects generate their own personality, the process and progress being reflected upon and the reactions of each artist.
